Patent Research and Analysis. As an initial matter when considering whether or not to file an application for a patent, it is typically most helpful and cost-effective to understand what patents, published applications and publications (called "prior art") exist that could impact (i) if you can get a patent and (ii) how broad or narrow your patent's scope might be (see Patents 101 for details). FPS will perform an online search through commercial databases to identify relevant prior art and assist you in assessing the patentability of your invention. For clients looking to evaluate the validity of an existing patent, FPS accesses state-of-the-art databases with global patent and publication coverage to identify references that might support a position of invalidity.
Patent Application Drafting. FPS works closely with inventors and others involved in the technical innovation process to prepare U.S. patent applications that seek to maximize the scope of patent protection sought while also satisfying the statutory and regulatory requirements for application form and content. Client goals are our focus and client satisfaction our mission.
Patent Application Prosecution. FPS has years of experience interacting with patent examiners at the United States Patent and Trademark Office and is well-equipped to manage the "back-and-forth" with the patent office and the examiners to advance your application to an issued patent.
