Foryt Patent Services LLC (FPS) is a Florida Limited Liability Corporation founded by John P. Foryt. John's career in in the subject area known as intellectual property (patents, trade secrets, trademarks, copyrights and domains/internet) spans 30+ years and covers both private practice and in-house counsel roles. John was valedictorian of his high school class and earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame in 1985. After attending law school at night, securing his patent agent's license in 1988 and passing the Virginia Bar in 1990 while working full-time for a boutique law firm in Arlington, VA, John joined Monsanto Company in 1992 as a patent attorney at its nylon facility in Cantonment, Florida. When Monsanto spun off its $2.1B chemicals businesses (including the nylon facility) to create Solutia Inc. in 1997, John joined Solutia and, rising through positions of increasing responsibility, was appointed Solutia's Chief Intellectual Property Counsel in 2003. John retained that position until Solutia was acquired by Eastman Chemical Company in 2012. John left Eastman at the end of 2016 and returned home to Gulf Breeze, FL to create FPS.
